The Modernaire are a Manchester based trio comprising of Cruella De Mill, Oscar Wildstyle and Chesty La Rue (I'm thinking that ain't their real names). They make music that is multi-purpose. Menacing synths and surging beats are contrasted by wispy vocals and anodyne harmonies, making their sound as suitable for dance floor as it would for a bedtime lullaby. Electro-be-bop anyone? Having played with the likes of The Whip, Ratatat and The Ting Tings (whom I believe requested their support), the band have now released their second extended player, 'Velvet Never Dries' on independent label Jackdaw Recordings.
